ACADEMICS
NECCA Academy's mission is for every student to graduate proficient, with a plan, a purpose and a path forward.
To accomplish this, NECCA Academy believes in the Student Success Pyramid, which incorporates whole-child supports, a system to accelerate proficiency and mastery across core content areas, and ultimately expand access to dual enrollment so that students graduate fully prepared to continue college-level education or immediately enter the workforce in a high demand and high paying career field.
High School Core
In 9th and 10th grade, students participate in core curriculum (English Language Arts, math, social studies, science) primarily through virtual learning. All curriculum will have been approved and vetted by the Nevada Department of Education and aligned to rigorous core standards.
Students are expected to participate in learning across a full school day, but they have the ability to work at their own pace and schedule based on their individual needs.
Student Success Class
Student Success is a required class for all students. Eleventh and twelfth grade students who have successfully completed two semesters of Student Success Class may be eligible for an exemption.
Students meet in-person twice per week for approximately 2 hours. The class teaches goal setting, self-advocacy, and critical thinking. This class also plays a critical role in building community across a hybrid learning model and ensuring students remain on track.
Transportation and lunch are provided.
Dual Enrollment
Our core belief is that every student is capable when provided with both support and opportunity.
Ninth and tenth grade students may be eligible to participate in 1 to 2 dual enrollment elective courses. Eleventh and twelfth grade students may be eligible to participate in 3-5 courses aligned to graduation requirements and student interests.
Elevate Series
The Elevate Series is a cornerstone of NECCA Academy’s program, delivering full-day, high-impact learning once per months that build college and workforce readiness, communication and leadership skills. Elevate sessions create space for mentorship, exploration, and skill development beyond traditional coursework, ensuring every student develops a clear plan, purpose, and path forward.
Art
NECCA Academy students explore fine arts through dual enrollment, opening a breadth of experiences a traditional high school program cannot match. The NSHE fine arts catalog available to students spans visual art, graphic design, photography, music, theater, dance, digital media, film, ceramics, and sculpture—providing authentic, college-level opportunities to create, perform, and build portfolio-ready work.
Student Enrichment
NECCA Academy students engage in student enrichment and study abroad opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom. This includes student-led initiatives, flexible Friday programming (e.g., community service, intramural athletics, career exploration, mentorship, and enrichment workshops), and immersive experiences that build leadership, cultural awareness, and real-world skills aligned to each student’s Academic Plan.
NECCA Academy's Proficiency Acceleration and Mastery System (PAMS)
NECCA Academy brings best practices across the country for quickly developing and accelerating proficiency levels across math, English language arts and science reasoning. Students start with a simple check to see what they know and what they need to work on. From there, we meet students wherever they are, creating a clear plan, daily adaptive skills practice, and regular feedback. Teachers use this information to give support right when it’s needed so students can keep moving forward.
PAMS connects everything students do—classes, Student Success, Elevate, and college courses—into one clear path. Students set goals, track their progress, and build confidence as they improve. This helps every student stay focused, make steady growth, and be ready for college and a career.
